“gallon”: a space, a object, a artist, a audience A gallon is placed at the performance space, where the audience is waiting for action. The action is simple. A artist enters the room, placing the gallon upon her shoulders. A image of extreme physical tension and balance: strong and fragile, limited just by the capacity of the artists body. With this performance, my aim is to work on a connection and tension between the audience, my body and a object. Whenever I perform “gallon”, my questions are: How is the space? Where do I place my material, the object of a 11kg gallon of propangas? Where does the audience decide to be? Where am I and how do I enter my performance space? How to make my way to the object? Lifting it upon my body, I become a living image. How long can I carry? The gallon on my back, the muscles of my body. As the weight is getting heavy my legs tremble, my back is moving. I am breathing. The breath moves my rips. As my breath is getting more heavy, my mouth stands open. My breath mixes with sliver. The sound of the breath is spreading out in space. Object on body in space: as long as I can carry. Object on body in space: until it falls. Object on body in space: for the audience to be experienced, to be shared.
